According to a scholarly investigation into a pilot project at a shipping terminal in Copenhagen, the number of hours that delayed or stranded freight is present at the port of Bremerhaven can be significantly decreased by enhancing logistics.Although the project was started in June, the academic paper claims that the largest barrier to implementing the significant adjustments that the Danish port has to make is the logistics issue brought on by delayed goods.According to Jorgen Liebenwaldt of the Department of Transportation Economics at the Danish Technical University in Copenhagen, "we are convinced that this is the right time to test new transport planning tools in a realistic, controlled environment and now is the time to prove that these new logistics tools work."
A number of businesses worked together with logistics specialists from the Danish Transport Agency, the universities of Copenhagen and Aalborg, to develop the new logistical solutions.
